No matter what the weather, you can be sure that there will be a flock of sheep to keep watch over the famous Fanad lighthouse.
Locals will tell you that Fanad lighthouse was voted one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world. We’re not quite sure where or when this vote happened, and can only presume this was in some sort of worldwide “Lighthouse Idol” competition. Regardless, it’s an unquestionably beautiful sight.
This photograph was taken on a blustery summer day at Fanad Head in Donegal, Ireland. With landmarks that have been photographed to death, we always strive to capture something different - to find a story around the picture. We loved how the sheep roam the rocky ground around the old Coastguard cottages, keeping watch over the visitors to the famous Donegal lighthouse.
